Field HEALTHCARE TECHNOLOGY: wider use of a successful technology Location World
Description

The project proposes to bring together various collaborators and their existing resource materials, currently in diverse formats, in order to develop a series of at least 5 generic practical Health Care Technology Management Procedure Guides. These guides will be designed as tools for various levels of the health service in developing countries (equipment users, facility managers, managers in health service provider organizations and external funding agencies) in the daily procedures to follow when managing equipment, whether in the government, NGO, or private sectors. These guides will be published and disseminated to the intended beneficiaries, available in paper and downloadable forms. It is intended that they will fall under the umbrella of the WHO’s global collaboration to produce their ‘Healthcare Facilities and Technology Management Tool Kit’ series of publications, and to this end the project will have an Advisory Group of personnel from international organisations who will define strategies for and review the documents. A number of targeted beneficiaries will also be involved in the project.

Ziken has already produced a manual for policy makers on the management of healthcare technologies. Its collaborators on this project, FAKT and ECHO, all have experience in developing and disseminating resource materials in this field. The strategic collaboration of WHO and the inclusion of the guides in WHO publications increase the scope for dissemination.
