The
project aims to improve the access to and availability of information related
to healthcare technology (including management practices) for healthcare
delivery institutions and health professionals in developing countries,
through two research assignments:
-
Assembly and maintenance of
an indexed "knowledge database", accessible via the KaR website or in hardcopy,
of relevant individuals, institutions, publications and web-sites.
-
Survey of healthcare delivery
institutions in selected developing countries which will aim to identify
priority areas where information and training needs are not being met.
The
project will put great emphasis on distributing these outputs to relevant
institutions and people both within the developed and developing world
in order to help fill in the knowledge gaps. The sustainability of the
database will be ensured by a ‘knowledge management team’ of healthcare
professionals from both developed and developing countries, set up toward
the end of the project.
